Trigger your dopamine

Imagine this:

You're climbing the Mount Everest.

The air is ice-cold, you haven't slept for two days, your muscles hurt with every step and yet you maintain to climb up to reach the peak.

Why do you persist? Because at the summit, there's a view that'll simply take your breath away.

That anticipation...that's what we call...

dopamine at work.

With every shaky step you take a small hit of dopamine rewards your brain to keep going.

Often referred to as the "motivation molecule," this amazing neurotransmitter is essential in determining our wants, behavior, and the influences of how we perceive the world around us.

This is why whenever someone is diagnosed with a kind of depression the first prescription is likely to be: taking some time of work and doing something you really love to do...

So, this is also why it's crucial TO DO THE WORK YOU LOVE!

Loving your job or business endeavor will likely give you more dopamine hits and thereby fuel your desire to explore, to achieve and to become more than you are. Without it,... you'd be perfectly happy sitting in a dark room, doing absolutely nothing. Is that the life you want? I don't think so. right?

But here's where it gets tricky...

Our modern world is full of cheap dopamine hits. Social media likes, junk food, endless scrolling... they all give you a quick fix of dopamine.

It's like being given a handful of counterfeit bills instead of earning real currency.

Sure, it might feel good momentarily, but it's not taking you anywhere meaningful.

So what do I do to change that?

Well,... you start by setting goals. (click here to learn how to set goals)

Maybe it's reading a difficult book, or learning a new skill, or having that conversation you've been avoiding. When you accomplish these goals, no matter how small or big, your brain releases dopamine.

Your brain will silently scream to you: Yes, this is really good! Please do more of this!

Don't be fooled!

This journey of understanding dopamine is not easy. It demands that you confront your own nature, your habits, your weaknesses.

But it's always profoundly rewarding in the long run! Because as you learn to guide this neurochemical force, you're not just changing your brain chemistry. You're actually changing your life's trajectory!

So, ask yourself: Are you going to be a passive victim of your own neurology, or are you going to take control?

The choice is yours, and it's a choice you make every single day.

Any day you wish you can change your whole life. It doesn't ever have to be the same again... - Jim Rohn
