4 Ways to deal with overthinking

Last week, I did an Ask Me Anything on my Instagram stories.

I got some interesting questions, most of them were about overthinking.

I've noticed a lot of people struggle with overthinking things. This seems to be more and more a thing of the future due to rapid technology and too many options to choose from.

Therefore, this article is dedicated to that subject, because I was an overthinker once too!

Let me share some insightful tips on how I came to overcome overthinking once and for all!

Vision Board

Staying reminded of your main goals will help you to make decisions much faster!

Therefore, creating a vision board is a great technique to act as a re-mindful guide.

How to?

Pretty easy! Just pick a few sheets of paper and write your main goals for the short-term and long-term visions you have.

Also, you can do cut-outs or printed photo's of the stuff you desire to achieve. Now, when you have everything assembled, just pick a whiteboard or piece of cardboard and hang all your reminders on it.

Now hang the board somewhere on a wall in your office or home.Whenever you're not certain and feel like overthinking things, just take a look at your vision board, and you'll be reminded of what decision would work best toward your goals.

Tip: Schedule Google Calendar

There's a rule that says:

every 1 minute spent in planning saves you 10 minutes in execution!

Most people overthink things due to a lack of proper planning, thereby trying to solve things in need of more time.

Therefore, always make sure to have a schedule to remind yourself of what to focus on at your planned moment of time.

Did you know Google offers a free, easy-to-use schedule that can notify you on all synced devices when you use their calendar?

I use it everyday! It supported me greatly in being more productive and less overthinking things!

Tip: Journaling

There's a saying that goes; you can't control random thoughts, but you can control what you do with them!

That's why it's important to create a system for yourself to develop yourself into having a clear mind. The system I use personally is; journaling my thoughts on paper so they don't stay stuck in my mind.

When you clear your mind on paper every day, you will automatically have more room to process difficult questions and choices.

More journaling = less overthinking!

So get yourself a notebook and use it as your daily journal; keep it with you at all times, and make sure to clear your head whenever you feel like doing so!

Tip: Gratitude brings peace of mind

Last but not least,! gratitude!

This is actually the most important factor of all when it comes to overthinking!

Ungratefulness = Judgement = Stress = Uncertainty = Overthinking

Bring gratitude into your life and I promise you, you will feel much better and see opportunities much more clearly!

Yes I get it...

There's a lot of bad in life, and maybe even in your personal life...

BUT

There are so many things to be grateful for in life!

Learn to appreciate them and be grateful for life and all it's beauty!

Practice forgiveness instead of judgement, and you will let go of all negativity and reduce the amount of stress that enters your mind!

Doing this will take the most time of all the tips I shared with you today, but it will be the best one when it comes to less overthinking!

That's it for today!

I wish you all the best on your journey to overthinking less!
